With a general election looming just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about which party gets your vote (if you haven’t already decided). But which party has the best interests of UK landlords at heart?

A new survey by Rentify has revealed

that nearly half of UK landlords intend to vote Conservative on polling day because they believe that David Cameron’s party is more committed to helping landlords. The voting breakdown of landlords who took part in the Rentify survey was as follows:
• Conservative – 45%
• Labour – 19%
• UKIP – 17%
• Lib Dem – 6%
• Green – 6%
Why are the Tories so Popular with Landlords?
Landlords questioned in the survey revealed that they were strongly in favour of the Conservative Party because the Tories had no plans to introduce rent controls. Landlords don’t want any more regulation in the private rental sector and extra rules would just make their lives a lot more difficult.
“Conservatives take a liberal approach to the rental market, opting not to interfere with rent prices and tenancy lengths. This is good news for landlords should the Tories remain in government,” says Rentify.
Labour Landlord Policies
Labour has committed to a number of landlord policies. Labour wants to limit rent increases, although it has stopped short of suggesting it intends to cap rents. Labour also wants to introduce a landlord registration scheme.
