Rogue landlords are always in the headlines for one reason or another.
Despite government attempts to crack down on rogue landlords, this is one problem that refuses to go away. The main problem is that many local councils don’t pursue rogue landlords through the courts.
Freedom of information requests found that 60% of councils in England and Wales had not brought any prosecutions against landlords.
Sometimes, however, a bad landlord does get their just desserts.
Ferrari Crushed
A report in the Metro described how a rogue landlord’s beloved Ferrari 458 Spider was confiscated and subsequently crushed. A video of the car being destroyed in a breaker’s yard was released online, no doubt as a warning to other individuals that proceeds of criminal activities will be confiscated and dealt with accordingly.
Landlord Vows to Take Officer to Court
Not surprisingly, the landlord owner of the Ferrari was furious. He had claimed all along that the car was legitimately owned and not stolen, as the police claimed, but his protests were for nothing.
Since he couldn’t produce the paperwork to back up his claims that the car had been bought from an auction, the Ferrari was removed from his ownership and crushed.
Although he was able to produce the paperwork later, by then it was too late.
