A lot of professional landlords have had their fair share of outrageous tenant complaints and requests. Some complaints, however, are downright odd.

Tenants Down Under

A website in Australia has chronicled some of the most bizarre complaints and requests made by tenants down under.

One young lady complained that the rain came in when the window was left open. Another asked the landlord to pop over and sharpen the knives because after three months use they were blunt. Another tenant complained that their neighbour’s microwave was making loud pings each time it was used.

Water Logged Smoke Alarm

One bemused landlord reported how his overseas tenant complained a smoke alarm wasn’t working. He called round to sort it out, only to find it wasn’t working because the tenant had been throwing water at it to shut it off when they burnt their toast. The unit was so waterlogged the electrics had fried.

Another landlord was handed a bill for a family of four’s meal and drinks in a restaurant. The oven had broken down, but they refused to wait one working day for it to be fixed. The tenant decided he was due compensation and he expected the landlord to pick up the tab.
